As we step into 2025, a year laden with promise and reflection, a new dimension has emerged in the political dynamics of Apa-Agatu. Beneath the surface of unity lies a grand conspiracy among aides and supposed loyalists of Hon. Chief Pastor Ojotu Ojema, the vibrant young lawmaker representing Agatu in the Federal House of Representatives. Far from being an act of betrayal, this calculated alignment is being celebrated by many as a patriotic stand for justice, equity, and the long-overdue enforcement of the rotational power-sharing agreement between Apa and Agatu.

The recently inaugurated ward coordinator of the Agatu Enlightenment Forum, alongside future polling unit coordinators preparing for Chief Ojema’s 2027 re-election campaign, has shed light on a significant undercurrent within his camp. Insights reveal that certain factions, cloaked in their loyalty to Ojema, have subtly shifted their support toward the “Rotational Movement to Apa” initiative. This movement seeks to reposition leadership once Ojema concludes his anticipated 20 years of representation in 2027. The decision of these aides to align with the rotational agenda, despite Ojema’s alleged attempts to frustrate it, is seen by many as a wise and courageous act rooted in patriotism rather than betrayal.

While Ojema’s camp continues to present a façade of unity, the cracks in the foundation have become evident. Manipulation, deceit, and unkind words once directed at me because of my advocacy of the rotational agenda have now given way to a quiet but resolute wave of dissent. Hon. Ojema’s refusal to honor the rotational agreement has not gone unnoticed, and the bold stance of his aides—both online and offline—has brought fresh hope to those advocating for equity.

As we extend our hopes for a prosperous 2025 to Hon. Ojema, it is imperative to recognize the need for a more inclusive approach to leadership. His aides’ decision to prioritize fairness over blind loyalty is a proof to their integrity and foresight. Should Ojema choose to explore new horizons beyond 2027, his achievements and support from the community could pave the way for his return after Apa’s tenure concludes in 2031. However, his journey to 2027 must be one that respects the principles of justice and shared leadership that bind Apa and Agatu.
