AGATU APC CHAIRMAN DISOWNS RUMOURED DEFECTION RALLY — SAYS “IT IS FAKE, UNAUTHORIZED AND MUST BE IGNORED”

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Agatu Local Government Area, Hon. Habibu Saidu, has issued a sharp and categorical disclaimer, distancing the party from a viral social media announcement claiming that a major decamping rally would hold in Agatu on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Describing the information as “fake news, misleading and completely unauthorized,” the Agatu APC Chairman warned party members and the general public to disregard the announcement, insisting that no such event was approved, scheduled, or sanctioned by any recognised organ of the party.

“NO AUTHORIZATION FROM THE PARTY — IGNORE THE FAKE RALLY NOTICE”

Hon. Saidu clarified that neither he nor the APC leadership in Agatu had issued any directive or approval for a decamping ceremony.
He stressed that:

  • The APC in Agatu is not organizing any rally or decamping event on Saturday.
  • No instruction or clearance was received from the APC State Working Committee (SWC) led by Comrade Austin Agada.
  • Party members should treat the viral announcement as false, misleading and mischievous.

The chairman noted that APC activities must align strictly with the party’s constitution, operational guidelines, and established approval hierarchy — all of which were violated by the individuals pushing the fake notice.

SWC DIRECTS MEMBERS TO SHUN THE “FAKE” EVENT

According to Hon. Saidu, the APC State Working Committee in Benue, led by Comrade Austin Agada, has also issued a firm directive instructing all APC members in Agatu not to attend the purported rally, stressing that the individuals behind the event “are not members of the party.”

The statement further warned that:

  • Any party member who defies the directive will face disciplinary action.
  • The party is monitoring developments and will not tolerate acts capable of creating confusion or undermining the party’s internal cohesion.

“NO MEETING, NO RALLY — DO NOT BE MISLED”

The Agatu APC Chairman reiterated that he did not authorize any meeting, gathering or political assembly for Saturday and urged the public to remain vigilant against the spread of misinformation designed to destabilize the party at the grassroots.

He assured APC faithful and the good people of Agatu that the party remains united, focused and committed to lawful, constitutionally guided political engagement.

CALL FOR CALM AND PARTY DISCIPLINE

Hon. Saidu appealed to members to stay calm, remain loyal to the leadership of the party, and report any suspicious political activity intended to mislead, confuse or manipulate unsuspecting members of the public.

He reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining order, discipline and transparency in all party affairs within Agatu LGA.

SIGNED:
