Benue Contractors Plan Peacfull Protest Over Non- Payment

Benue contractors have demonstrated remarkable courage in planning a peaceful protest against the government, citing delayed payments.
Their lawyer, G. T Mbasuen, Barristers, Solicitors and Advocates of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, penned a letter to the Benue State Commissioner, highlighting the contractors’ plight.
As revealed in a letter obtained exclusively by The Nation, the Benue State Government, through the Bureau of Agricultural Development and Mechanization (BNARDA/BENTHA), awarded contracts for the supply of agricultural inputs to the contractors for the 2024 cropping season.
However, despite fulfilling their contractual obligations, the government has neglected to make payments, leaving the contractors susceptible to harassment and persecution from their financiers.
In response, the contractors are taking a firm stance, demanding payment for their services.
Their determination serves as a source of inspiration for others who have faced similar challenges.
According to the letter, Barrister G. T Mbasuen stated that the contractors plan to stage a peaceful protest on February 11, 2025, at 10 am, beginning at the Bureau of Agricultural Development and Mechanization Headquarters and proceeding to the Government House in Makurdi.
The protest aims to bring attention to the non-payment of contracts owed to the contractors by the Benue State Government.
